The New Year
Ah, it’s that time of the year, when the old gives way to the new. But some things remain timeless. Yet never remaining the same. Like my unparalleled new-year-cake-making-skills, which seems to be getting worse with time.
Life is not a sum of all that happens to us. And is not meant to be used up, waiting for something big to happen. We keep looking for it. Something. Or the other. That could make life better. Happier. But true happiness, as I’ve experienced, lies in the smallest of moments. That give us the opportunity to renew, grow and evolve. Truer to ourselves, more than anyone else.
This year, the New Year, let us resolve to bring all those blissful joys back to our lives by simplifying, reducing and slowing down a little. Living life moment by moment, as you’d eat a cake – one bite at a time, hoping not to finish it too soon. Of course, not this one. See you in 2015.
Happy New Year!
