While I queued up for the Indian Republic Day parade tickets, I met Zhaolin Chao, a Buddhist scholar from Beijing, China, doing his PhD here at the University of Delhi. We stood together in our repeated defeats in getting a ticket for the Republic Day parade and finally shared victory. As our two governments tussle for land I hope and I pray that the people of both the countries begin to understand and appreciate each other in a more personal way and do their bit to stop hate. Cultural immersion and exchange can always lead to better bilateral relations. We all need to come together as they do in the popular TV series Game of Thrones where various houses form Strategic Alliances to defend themselves against the White-Walkers. We too have our White-Walkers, only they are more abstract and real at the same time – poverty, nuclear, refugees, terrorism, environment, women rights among others. Globalization is absolutely critical to sustain life. It is not an option. China built the Great Wall once, and now Trump wants to build another wall with the Mexicans. India stands at the cusp of being a global superpower. What would India build
